Hussein Mbalangu has said Alfred Leku is capable of taking the lead up-front in the absence of injured Caeser Okhuti.
The Leopards’ skipper limped off 17 minutes after opening the scores for Arua Hill SC in Big League game that ended 2-2 with Gaddafi last Thursday at Barifa Play Ground.
Okhuti is ruled out for the final fixture of the first round of the StarTimes FUFA Big League slated for Sunday 25th/04/2021 against Paidha Black Angels at Bar Okoro as he needs time to heal and recover from the groin injury.
The gaffer Mbalangu though is saddened with the news of the absence of his ‘commander’ remains confident in the capabilities of likely replacement Alfred Leku to take on the mantle.
“Yes because even when Caeser limped out, Leku came in and took over and the last time he even scored a goal,” Mbalangu replied when asked if Leku has what it takes to lead the team upfront in Okhuti’s absentia.
“That’s why whenever I substitute Caeser I bring in Leku, it means Leku can try to do what Caeser has been doing,” he added.
“We are sorry because we’ve lost our commander , he is the captain and our leading top scorer but I know with the available players, we’ll get the win.” He concluded.
Okhuti leads the top scoring chart of the club with four goals in six appearances in the league. Meanwhile Alfred Leku follows with two goals in six appearances in the league and one goal in two Uganda Cup appearances.
One of the gigantic forward’s goals came in the Uganda Cup against UPDF in the 3-2 win. In the League Leku has scored in 3-0 win against Kataka FC and 2-2 draw against Gaddafi.
